Our expert triage team assesses each patient as they walk in the door, so wait times are 0 minutes for potentially life-threatening conditions such as a heart attack or stroke. Other common reasons to visit emergency rooms include shock, burns, massive bleeding, and drug overdose, . 


Dr. John Gaillard is affiliated with Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and is an associate professor at Wake Forest Baptist Health in the Department of Anesthesiology, Section on Critical Care; Department of Internal Medicine, Section on Pulmonology, Critical Care, Allergy, and Immunologic Diseases; and Department of Emergency Medicine. John received his MD degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He is board certified in emergency medicine and internal medicine/critical care medicine. He is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American College of Chest Physicians. He received his medical degree from Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.
