Come Gather, Grow and Go with Mount Tabor UMC!
We are blessed that you are considering worshiping with us on Sunday morning. It is our hope that you will feel truly welcomed at Mount Tabor, and that in some way you will experience the very real love and presence of the living God through our worship together.

What should I wear? This is a "come as you are" kind of place, so whatever you are comfortable wearing is perfectly fine. Whatever you wear, we are blessed that you come to worship.

Is there a nursery, or care for children? The Nursery is for infants through Preschoolers. The nursery is available from 8:45 AM to Noon on Sunday mornings and other varied times as needed. Our church community recognizes the importance of the environment you desire for your child during worship. Our nursery is staffed by paid caregivers who have undergone background checks and provide consistent and loving care of your children as well as volunteers. Silent pagers are provided for parents and a check in system is in place. In addition, Mount Tabor offers TaborKIDS Worship during all of our worship services. TaborKIDS Worship will include all the same elements – prayer, music, sermon, etc., but will be geared specifically to them. Children (4 years – 2nd grade) are invited to participate and will be called to follow the TaborKIDS Worship Leader during the service.

Where is the church located, and where do I go when I get there? We are located at 3543 Robinhood Road in Winston Salem, and there are 3 entrances off Robinhood Road that will bring you in to the church. We recommend that you enter and exit at the traffic light. When you enter that way, you'll see Guest Parking straight ahead -- we've reserved a spot for you! The first place you'll want to go is our Welcome Center. Look for the white signs on the sidewalk that will point the way. From there, volunteers will be glad to help you find the Children's Building, the Worship Spaces, and where to find bagels and coffee. You'll find plenty of friendly faces at Mount Tabor, but look especially for our greeters wearing either yellow vests or name tags. Our team of volunteers will be happy to meet you and help you find your way. We hope you'll stop by our Welcome Desk in our Welcome Center, where we have a special gift for you. The Welcome Desk is a great place to meet some folks and find out more about the many programs and ministries at Mount Tabor. You'll also find comfortable places to sit and chat, while enjoying a bagel and coffee in our Welcome Center. We are a church for all people, with buildings accessible for those with disabilities.
-
Which worship service should I go to?With two distinct options for worship, we encourage you to learn more about each service by exploring the Worship Services page under the Worship section in the navigation bar.
-
Do you have Sunday School? We have Sunday School classes for everyone, of every age, on every Sunday at 10 AM. While nursery care is provided for ages 3 and younger, children ages 4 through 5th grade enjoy age and grade-level classes in our Children's Building. Parents bring the children to their class and sign them in, and then pick up their child at 10:45 AM. Please stop by the desk in the lobby of our Children's Building for help finding your class. Youth in grades 6 through 12 attend Sunday School with the FUSION youth group, also on the lower level of our main building. Stop by the Welcome Desk for more information and directions. Adults, beginning with our college-age young adults, have many different class options to choose from in various locations in our main building. Stop by the Welcome Desk where our volunteers can help you choose and find the class that's right for you.

AccessibilityMount Tabor United Methodist Church strives to provide an inclusive space where people with and without disabilities can worship and serve together. Our leaders created Mount Tabor’s inclusive space for worship and spiritual growth because they embraced the fundamental reality that people with and without disabilities are equally spiritual, equally drawn to worship, equally motivated to serve others, and equally yearn to advance in their faith. Examples of our intentional efforts to provide access to people of all abilities include: Accessible parking is available near major entrances to our church worship and activity spaces. Numerous parking spaces are available for senior citizens in the parking lot in close proximity to the sanctuary and Trinity Welcome Center leading to the Alspaugh Worship Center. Greeters are stationed by all entry points during worship service hours to allow easy access to enter. Parking lot greeters available to direct people to appropriate entrances. Wheelchairs are available in both the Welcome Center and the Sanctuary. Worship areas have designated spaces to accommodate wheelchair seating. Hearing enhancement devices, as well as large print bulletins, are available while attending worship in the Sanctuary by asking an usher in the Narthex. Multi-level buildings provide access to all areas via elevator and/or ramps At least one marked ADA unisex/ family restroom (or one stall in male and female restrooms) is accessible from each floor Changing tables available in first floor family female restroom, as well as in the unisex restrooms in the narthex of the sanctuary and by the Alspaugh Worship Center. Shawls available in the sanctuary Fragrance free soaps and candles are used throughout the church Water fountains are no more than 36 inches high with easy hand controls In August of 2022, our church was awarded Gold Level status by the Disability Committee of the United Methodist Church for continuing to remove barriers of architecture, communication, and attitudes so that people with disabilities are fully included in all aspects of worship, leadership, ministry, and mission. Mount Tabor United Methodist Church is the first church in the Western North Carolina conference to receive this status.
